Russ & Daughters’ very own Raquel Echanique will be having a solo exhibition on the Lower East Side. The show, entitled Cell Culture, opens Thursday, May 5th and runs through May 30th. In addition to being a fabulous addition to the Russ & Daughters family– you have most likely interacted with Raquel on the sweets side of the shop– Raquel is also an award winning artist. She has displayed her work in more than ten collective and solo exhibitions in New York, Ecuador, and in Argentina, where she illustrated the poetry book “Descartes,” (Buenos Aires, 2008).
Cell Culture is a collection of spray and oil paint infused works on canvas and paper. In these works, “uncomfortable angles and perception distorting images will force the viewer to find themselves in the skin of the observed object,” and “aggressive cell-like abstractions and realistic portraits battle for space in the composition.”
Cell Culture will be showing at Le Salon d’Art
90 Stanton Street
Lower East Side, NY
May 5th- May 30th
Opening party: Thursday, May 5 from 7PM until 10PM.
