Jay and Anne McInerney hosted a beautiful brunch for Senator Al Franken, and served a Russ & Daughters spread — bagels and lox — to their guests. Franken also praised the food to “Page Six” in the New York Post. That sounds, to us, like a recipe for great event.

It was a mini-”Saturday Night Live” reunion at the Greenwich Village penthouse of Jay and Anne McInerney the other day, when they hosted a fund-raising brunch for Sen. Al Franken. The Minnesota Democrat, who was involved with the show for 15 years as a writer and performer, chatted with former colleagues Jim Signorelli, the show’s film segment producer, and Jim Belushi, who spent two seasons on the cast. Belushi is in town rehearsing for the Broadway revival of “Born Yesterday,” which opens next month. Franken said he judges a fund-raiser by the quality of its food, and praised the gourmet lox and bagels from Russ & Daughters. -Page Six
