From Sunday’s New York Post:

MY NEW YORK: LEONARD LOPATE

WNYC radio host Leonard Lopate is both the quintessential New Yorker and a foremost authority on the city’s ever-changing culture. A Bed-Stuy native who spent 25 years in Chinatown before fashionably repatriating to Brooklyn, he’s partaken in all aspects of the city’s shift. And with interview guests from Meryl Streep and Barack Obama to chefs Alice Waters and Anthony Bourdain - his food coverage has earned him two James Beard Foundation Awards - few people have his keen perspective on what makes our city tick. This is his New York.    - Larry Getlen

Russ and Daughters, 179 E. Houston St., between Orchard and Allen streets, “The last of the great appetizing stores. This is totally coincidental, because I shopped there for many, many years, but [owner] Mark Federman’s daughter, Niki, was an intern on our show, and now she’s running the store with her cousin Josh. If you care about appetizing - lox, whitefish, pickled herring - there’s no place that compares.- Leonard Lopate
