On Monday, January 26, The Culinary Arts Committee of the National Arts Club presents an exploration of New York’s vast gastronomic culture and history as represented in Gastropolis: Food & New York City, a new collection of essays which features a chapter by Mark Russ Federman. Gastropolis was co-edited by Annie Hauck-Lawson and Jonathan Deutsch and published by Columbia University Press.
A reception and book signing follows the panel. This event is free and open to the public.

From bagels at Russ & Daughters, to hot dogs and pizza, to New York’s avant-garde food scene, from discussions of hunger to “la Vida Sabrosa”, the city’s “asphalt terroir”, its markets, its neighborhoods and fusion cuisine, this volume examines what is delicious and diverse about New York City food culture. Several of the book’s contributing authors will join Annie and Jon for a panel presentation. They include Mark Russ Federman, Annie Lanzillotto, Cara DeSilva, Jan Poppendieck, Jennifer Berg, Joy Santlofer, and Suzanne Wasserman.
